Training - 6 WEEKS UNTIL MARATHON

I have let this blog slide a little, and for that I do apologize. Half of what’s on here is legitimate training related but the everything else are little bits of me that I find in tumblr land, or that seem completely relevant at the time.

So this is going to be a TRAINING post because I’ve been busy with university and this is my first chance I’ve had to write a post.

My fitness is really on at the moment and I’m totally reaping the benefits from personal training sessions, when I look back at how I handled those workouts last year to now it’s completely different, my muscles are doing good things for me - almost their way of saying thanks for using us (creepy, probably).

I love running, I really do. Some people hate running, some dislike but I am a pro-running person. I believe it promotes a sound body and a sound mind. When I run my mind wanders to different places  and I always feel emotionally lighter after a good distance run.

I am currently running 3-4 days a week. This can vary from 30-40 min comfortable runs, hill reps, 10 min sprints, 3k time trials and now I am running one long-distance run on a weekend day (that’s a 1 hour 30 or 40 min run). In the next few weeks I am definitely more focused on not so much the distance but actually getting used to running for one or two hours at a time.

So as d-day draws closer I am going to kick my nutrition into high gear and work on eating small meals before a run, or experimenting with gels/liquids while I run, which is actually quite difficult for me because I hate eating before a run but I know on race day I will need something.

Watch this space for a nutrition post mid week/late week. I am going to do some research on the side of my studies.

Happy running.
